Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Do you often have lack of energy and fatigue ?

Do you complain often of aches and pains?

If the answer is yes,you could be suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome.

You may not be aware but CFS is pretty common, the main cause of CFS could be some bacterial or viral infection  that activates  the immune system

Normally when the immune system is activated it  releases chemical mediators  to fight against the invading bacteria or virus  this makes you feel unwell for sometime, but as the infection is eliminated  the immune system should wind down and you should feel better.

How ever theses days we see that increasing stress levels, our food habits and lifestyle are making it difficult for us to recover, as repeated stress causes a series of changes in our body  where the hormones  like cortisol and adrenaline are released in the blood stream, add to this the refined sugar and the processed food that we are consuming.

All this leads  to a low grade inflammatory  condition in our body, and this keeps inviting the infection again and again.

If you are caught in this cycle you will suffer from recurrent  sore throat, fever, chill and low grade muscle pain.

How do we get rid of CFS?

It is very essential to manage your stress levels through exercise, meditation, yoga.

Nutritional corrections- avoid refined sugar, avoid processed food

Make sure you are eating a minimum of 5 portions of fruit and vegetables daily so that you are getting plenty of antioxidants in your diet—antioxidants support the immune system.

If you have to eat non vegetarian food  then choose fish over all the other things, as fish are rich in omega 3 and this is an anti-inflammatory substance.
