Pain and Emotions
Pain and its emotional connection.
There are enough studies to show that pain is not only due to physical injury but stress and emotions can cause pain.
What is the purpose of pain? It can be as a result of injury but surely it’s a sign that something is wrong in our body.
Pain can also have a positive purpose , like for example labour pain , when a women experiences labour pain it is with a positive purpose as the end result will be a rewarding childbirth.
While we may always think that pain is due to physical reasons,( and can be sorted out with pain killers) it is important to note that chronic pain is many times due to some emotional reason. So it is important to find the emotional causes of the pain we experience if real healing has to occur.
The various areas where we generally experience pain are the head, neck, shoulders, upper and lower back elbows , knees and calf. So lets look at the various emotions attributed to these areas and how to overcome chronic pain.
Pain In Your HEAD
Headache and migraines are frequently triggered by stress ” Your headaches may just be the result of taking on too much in your day-to-day life.
Taking time out to relax today may be the best solution.
Pain In Your NECK
“Your neck is where you hold guilt – Pain in your neck may mean you are having trouble forgiving yourself and that you are judging yourself too harshly.
So if you are experiencing pain in the frequently , make a list of all things that you feel guilty about, if you have done something to someone about which you feel guilty, then apologise and clear the air for unless you do that, no matter what you do ,your neck pain will not go.
Pain In Your SHOULDERS
we carry the burden on our shoulders, we always talk about shouldering a problem and this is exactly what we are doing when we have shoulder pain.
So if you are suffering from chronic shoulder pain then reflect on the burden you are carrying, perhaps its time to allow some one else to take the responsibility, If you are taking on more than your fair share of the burden at work, it may just be time to let your co-worker know you need a little help.
Pain In Your UPPER BACK
“The upper back has to do with feeling the lack of emotional support. You may feel unloved or you may be holding back your love from someone else.” This would probably be a great time to reach out to loved ones and strengthen those relationships. If you’re single, it might be a good time to get in to a relationship A little bit of love will surely go a long way with that upper back pain.
Pain In Your LOWER BACK
“Money and financial issues are linked to lower back pain, similar to the lack of emotional support , lack of finincial support can put unnecessary strain on your lower back. So if you ar having cronic lower back pain then it is a good time to sort out the financial issues that you are facing , it is also a good time to re evaluate you spending habits.
Pain In Your ELBOWS
When it comes to pain and soreness in the elbows it shows your own resistance to change. Stiffness in the elbow may mean you are being too stubborn or “stiff” in your daily life.
So if you are arguing with your partner, this may be the perfect time to compromise and sort out the argument .
Learn to compromise and let go.
Pain In Your HANDS
Our hands reach out and connect to people, you inability to connect to others may lead to pain in the palms.
So if you are having a chronic pain in the palms may be its time to connect to your new co – worker or the new person who has moved in next door. Connecting could just be the key.
Pain In Your HIPS
“Fear of movement can manifest as stiffness or pain in the hips – fear of moving into our future or of a change in the direction of our lives can be a sign that you are resisting to move forward or take major decisions.
Pain In Your KNEES
Knees are associated with bending, Knee problems may be said to indicate being stuck in the Ego, too proud to bend.” Chronic knee pain may be a result of an overactive ego. Practice to be humble, give due credit to others. Stop bragging about yourself.
Pain In Your CALVES
The emotions jealousy and resentment are related to the calf muscles, calf pain can also be triggered by emotional stress.
If you are experiencing chronic pain in the calf it’s a good time to let go of grudges and jealousy.
Learn to let it go!
