Pain and Emotions

Pain and its  emotional connection.

There are enough studies to show that pain is not only due to physical  injury  but stress and emotions can cause pain.

What is the purpose of pain?  It can be as a result of injury but surely it’s a sign that something is wrong in our body.

Pain can also have a positive  purpose , like for example labour pain , when a women experiences labour pain it is with a positive  purpose as the end result will be a rewarding childbirth.

While we may always think that pain is due to physical reasons,( and can be sorted out with pain killers)  it is important to note that  chronic pain is many times due to some emotional reason. So  it is important  to find the emotional causes of the pain we experience if real healing has to occur.

The various areas where we generally experience pain are  the head, neck, shoulders, upper and lower back elbows , knees  and calf. So lets look at the various emotions attributed to these areas and how to overcome chronic pain.

Pain In Your NECK

“Your neck is where you hold guilt –  Pain in your neck may mean you are having trouble forgiving yourself and that you are judging yourself too harshly.

So if you are experiencing pain in the frequently , make a list of all things that you feel guilty about, if you have done something  to someone  about which you feel guilty, then apologise and clear the air  for unless you do that, no matter what you do ,your neck pain will not go.

we carry the burden on our shoulders, we always talk about shouldering a problem  and this is exactly what we are doing  when we have shoulder pain.

So if you are suffering from chronic shoulder pain then reflect on the burden you are carrying, perhaps its time to allow some one else to take the responsibility, If you are taking on more than your fair share of the burden at work, it may just be time to let your co-worker know you need a little help.

“The upper back has to do with feeling the lack of emotional support. You may feel unloved or you may be holding back your love from someone else.” This would probably be a great time to reach out to loved ones and strengthen those relationships. If you’re single, it might be a good time to  get in to a relationship  A little bit of love will surely go a long way with that upper back pain.

“Money and financial  issues are linked to lower back pain, similar to the lack of emotional support , lack of finincial support can  put unnecessary strain on your lower back.
